THIS WEEK IN CLASS... We are studying how to solve a system of equations using substitution methods. We will also learn the elimination method this week and how to model systems of equations using real world situations. There is only one standard for systems of equations, therefore, students have to be proficient in all 3 methods in order to show mastery. We will be working on this in class this week. If students need extra practice with this standard, they may visit: IXL.com > Algebra 1 > U.2 Solve a system by graphing U.8 Solve a system by substitution U.10 Solve a system by eliminationi BENCHMARK RETAKE... Many students have also inquired about making up their benchmark. This can be completed any time BEFORE December 14th; however, in order to retake the benchmark, students must complete the following: test corrections showing how their mistakes were corrected (6) "choice" khanacademy.com assignments (1) practice quiz on khanacademy.com Once these have been turned in, students may schedule a time to retake the benchmark. ******************** We will continue to use the IXL platform and Khan Academy Modules (Class Code: ZB54J85S) to complete homework assignments. We have had a few hiccups with accessing DeltaMath on school chromebooks. Students can access the DeltaMath platform on their home computers and cellphones for extra practice if needed. I also have computers available in class during the day in case students finish early or want to come complete the assignments during their PLT, if approved by their teacher. NEW TUTORING HOURS EFFECTIVE 9/24/18: Wednesday Mornings: 8:15am 8:40am Thursday Afternoons: 4:00pm 4:30pm NEW HOMEWORK POLICY: Any unfinished class work will be sent home to finish that evening and return completed the following school day. Actual homework completion is encouraged nightly; however, homework is due each Friday. Nightly completion helps prepare students for homework quizzes as well. If a student is struggling with a concept, I may assign some extra practice for mastery if requested by a parent. Students have been stressed regarding the amount of time spent on homework, therefore, parents, if your child is spending more than 30 minutes on homework, encourage them to stop. I find that other than a little homework a night, there is more to life than homework! In Class This Week Monday: Bell Ringer BRAIN Lesson Solving Systems By Elimination Homework Text book p.
