**New Classroom Policy Strictly Enforced**
"b4 the Door Policy"
8th Grade Students have been struggling with getting to class on time. To encourage better attendance in math class, the following b4 the door policy has been put in place:
Students must be
1. in my classroom
2. in their seats
3. with their IMN and a pencil
after the bell rings and before my door closes.
Students not present b4 the door closes may possibly miss out on graded bell ringers, graded quizzes and even miss much needed instructions.
Consequences to Violators:
1. Verbal Warning
2. Phone Call Home
3. Lunch Detention with Makeup Work
Last week we concluded our unit on the Real Number System with a Unit Test. Students who did not master the standards on the test are encouraged to retake the test over the next couple of weeks.
Students have done extremely well this past week learning about functions. Class has been engaging and at times competitive with our Function Auction task. This week, we will continue our study on functions as we learn how to evaluate, compare, and analyze them.
We will be implementing two new math practices in class this week:
1) small groups
2) technology groups
Students in the technology group will benefit from drill practices two days a week on programs such as IXL, Khan Academy and DeltaMath. Incomplete assignments will sometimes be assigned as homework (which can as easily be accessed from laptops, chromebooks, and cell phones). Grades for assignments completed in technology groups will now count as a homework grade.
